Istanbul, Turkey — On the anniversary of Gezi Park protests of Summer 2013, thousands gather in Istiklal Caddesi, despite the governor, on strict orders from MOI, cancel ferry and metro services, and despite around 25000 riot police officers and heavy riot vehicles put on special duty. Entrance to Taksim Square is blocked by riot police as of 14:30. Protesters keep on gathering on Istiklal Caddesi demanding entry into the park to commemorate those that died by police violence during the past year.
